BEHIND THE LENS, THE FILMMAKER

Originally hailing from BELGIUM, Zoé grew up travelling the world. From Africa to Australia, she exposed herself to a variety cultures and extreme conditions, always feeding her with more stories to tell...

At only 17, Zoé left her family and friends in Sydney, Australia, and flew out to France to attend the International Film School of Paris. From directing to cinematography to PA, she slowly began grasping what filmmaking was about as she explored as many different set jobs as she could and roamed the cinemas of Paris, regularly stumbling upon passionate young filmmakers who were just as eager as her to tell their stories.

After working on various narrative and documentary projects throughout Europe, she was chosen to participate in the Berlin Film Festival Talent Campus #6. That same year, she was also accepted into the world famous directing program of the American Film Institute during which she was awarded the “ Hal and Robyn Berson” scholarship for excellence in directing.

In 2011, she graduated the youngest and with honors after finishing her thesis film, "THIS IS NOT AN UMBRELLA", which was chosen to showcase at the Directors Guild of America and went on to more festivals around the world, like the Krakow Film festival in Poland.

Zoé then moved to Europe, spending most of her time between BRUSSELS and PARIS (and LOS ANGELES when needed), where she is now working as a writer / director (both in French and English), whether on her own projects or supporting other talents as a writer or script consultant.

Her first feature film "JUMBO" is set to world premiere at the prestigious Sundance film festival 2020, in the world dramatic competition, and will be released in France and Belgium in March 2020.
